Buffalo Bills Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 5

Week 5 – @ Tennessee – W 14-13

QB: Lost TOP pretty bad and didn’t run many plays.  Taylor a good game but did a ton of damage running.  Got dinged but stayed in and toughed it out.  Just a dangerous player in both good and bad ways.

RB: McCoy and Williams DNP.  Herron got the most work but did little.  No catches and that is the only thing appealing about him for fantasy.  I would ignore for now.

WR: Watkins DNP.  Hogan a long TD and little else from him or anyone.  Didn’t really like the situation or the receiving corps coming into the season.  Hate it right now.  Wouldn’t touch.

TE: Clay one catch.  Could be okay but an ugly game for everyone here.

OL: Wasn’t great run blocking for backup runners.  Probably looked a little worse because of the injuries.  Pass protection wasn’t great either.  Had QB running a ton and still getting hit plenty.  Rough game.

Def: Solid against a struggling run game.  Scrambling QB did the bulk of the damage.  Shutdown passing game as well.  Pass rush was pretty solid.  Gave up no good games.

Indianapolis Colts Week 17 Fantasy Analysis

Week 17 – @ Tennessee – W 27-10

QB: Luck played half the game and still put up decent numbers.  Should be a no-brainer top 10 pick next season.

RB: Herron looked very good and quick on his touches and had a decent game with receiving added.  Richardson did little but looked okay.  Could probably stand to lose some weight in the off-season.

WR: Wayne one big play and a good game because of it.  Hilton targeted but got nothing and sat most of the game.  Nothing to worry about.

TE: Allen DNP.  Fleener a huge game and continues to be a stud with Allen out.  Both are studs when the other sits.

OL: Good pass protection and shaky run blocking.  Even when they are good run blocking, they are really dominating and blowing the D off the line.  They’re just standing in front of defenders.

Def: Helped by bad QB play.  Great pass rush.  Run D was bad against a bad line.  Gave up good game to RB.  Decent games to TE and #1 WR.

Indianapolis Colts Week 16 Fantasy Analysis

Week 16 – @ Dallas – L 7-42

QB: Luck had awful game but not completely his fault.  Hurt by some drops and one pick was tipped.  Line didn’t play well.

RB: Shutout.  Herron and Richardson got few carries because of deficit.  Herron an okay receiving game.  Not much else to say other than line can’t run block.

WR: Hilton DNP.  Nicks a good game and actually stepped up and played well.  Wayne still not doing much.  Moncrief almost nothing and can’t be trusted for now.

TE: Allen 3 terrible drops before an injury.  Fleener was average but suffered more because of penalties and game flow.

OL: Continues to show they are terrible at run blocking.  Was fairly good in pass protection but far from elite.

Def: Run D was actually pretty good against elite run game.  Torched by a ton of passing TDs.  Gave up big games to every position, without exception.

Indianapolis Colts Week 15 Fantasy Analysis

Week 15 – vs Houston – W 17-10

QB: Luck an okay game but hurt by more drops.  Pass rush was getting to him as well and containing him.

RB: Herron an okay game but still isn’t getting enough touches.  Think the fumbles have scared coaches for now.  Richardson very average but blocking wasn’t great for him.

WR: Wayne clearly not the same with the injury.  Shouldn’t be playing.  Hilton held in check.  Nicks a TD but no reason to trust.  Moncrief got zero but wasn’t targeted much.

TE: Allen got a TD but little else.  Fleener did little as well.  Was tough match up and QB struggled so nothing to get too worried about.

OL: Like all teams, had trouble with Watt and pass rush.  Run blocking was hit and miss.

Def: Helped by bad QB play.  Got run on for plenty despite the opportunity to focus on it.  Gave up good games to RB and #1 WR.  Nothing else.

Indianapolis Colts Week 13 Fantasy Analysis

Week 13 – @ Washington – W 49-27

QB: Luck another monster game but was pressured and hit a bit.  Handled it well and showed some excellent accuracy and poise.

RB: Herron a big game on only 10 touches.  Did lose another fumble which looks like it might be a problem.  Richardson did little against tough D but will continue to play because of Herron’s fumbling issues.

WR: Moncrief a huge game catching 2 long TDs.  Hilton also a good game getting a TD.  Wayne did little but should still be fine in PPR.  Moncrief may have played his way into more targets now and looks like a DeSean Jackson-type.

TE: Allen DNP.  Fleener a monster game despite a terrible drop that would have went for a lot.  One TD did come on badly blown coverage.

OL: Not as good as score indicates.  Didn’t handle pass rush well and wasn’t getting much of a push on run plays.

Def: Decent game against the run but torched through the air.  Gave up big games to QB, receiving RB, and #1 WR.  Held everything else in check.

Grading My Last Minute Pickups of Week 12

Time to grade my week 12 pickups.  A very boom and bust week for these picks.  I said they had high ceilings and low floors and that came to fruition.  As always, I’ll be using the NFL.com projections and scoring for the grades.

Pickup of the Week – QB Zach Mettenberger – Projected 22nd among QB – Finished 10th – Grade: A+

TD to Hunter was a little fluky but it was still headed to him and, if it were a couple more inches higher, no one would call it a fluke.  He’s playing better every week and is worth consideration when the match up is good.  The Titans certainly don’t seem too interested in running the ball…

RB Dan Herron – Projected 73rd among RB – Finished 26th – Grade: A

Would have finished a little higher if not for the fumble.  Should have finished lower but his other fumble got credited to Luck.  Looked very good and should see plenty of touches for the rest of season.

WR Jermaine Kearse – Projected 80th among WR – Finished 76th – Grade: F

Disappointed yet again.  Still believe if he was on a passing team he would be a good fantasy option.  Seattle is just too erratic to ever confidently trust their WRs.

WR Charles Johnson – Projected 223rd among WR (not kidding, look it up) – Finished 12th – Grade: A++++++++times infinity

Really like what this guy is doing right now and looks like he has played his way past almost every other receiving option on his team.  Not a bad option, especially in PPR.  Might be a sneaky good play the next 2 weeks as well.

TE Eric Ebron – Projected 24th among TE – Finished 30th – Grade: F-

Played terrible and just doesn’t look like a very good receiver right now.  Maybe he’ll break out at some point, but it’s too costly to trust him for now.

Indianapolis Colts Week 12 Fantasy Analysis

Week 12 – vs Jacksonville – W 23-3

QB: Luck rushed a ton, especially early, and actually panicked a some.  Got hit more than usual as line couldn’t handle D-line.  Settled down as game went on.  TOP wore down D.

RB: Richardson a good game getting a TD and looked solid but no catches.  Herron looked good, especially receiving, but lost a fumble and really lost 2 but second not counted against him on stat sheet.  Both still hurt by sub-par blocking.

WR: Hilton a big game breaking a long one by beating D.  Wayne did little and just had bad game with a drop that would have gone for a lot of yards.  Moncrief an okay game and continues to quietly impress.

TE: Allen DNP.  Fleener did little and disappointed.  Some of the throws at him were QB’s fault.  Should have been a much better game.

OL: Struggled badly with pass protection early.  Recovered as game went on but run blocking continues to look shaky.  Just hit-or-miss with a lot more misses.

Def: Played lights out against weak O.  Shutdown the run game and covered banged up receiving corps extremely well.  Davis nearly shutout Shorts.  Gave up good games to no one.

Last Minute Fantasy Football Pickup of Week 12 – Zach Mettenberger

All of these picks have high ceilings this week, in my opinion, but also very low floors.  Really tough choice for the pickup of the week.

Pickup of the Week – QB Zach Mettenberger – Tennessee Titans – Owned 9% at most on sites (<1% on some)

Travels to Philly this week, a match up that seems good but you really can’t love a rookie QB heading into that stadium on a short week.  On top of that, I haven’t been overly impressed with his play up to this point.  (I’m really selling this, aren’t I?!)  That being said, I think the Titans built some momentum in their close game with the Steelers last Monday and they get Delanie Walker back this week.  Since the Eagles give up a ton of points, you have to believe Mettenberger can put together a pretty good fantasy game and throw multiple TDs.  You just have to hope the Eagles don’t play too angry and pitch a shutout on D after their embarrassment in Green Bay last week.  (Projection: 250-3)

Honorable Mentions

RB Dan Herron – Indianapolis Colts – 27% (<2%)

I would like Herron more if he had a better pass-catching history.  I’ve been impressed with him on his few touches this season and last and think he could be a good play.  Just wish Indy’s O-line could run block a little better. (50 total yards-1)

WR Jermaine Kearse – Seattle Seahawks – 5% (<3%)

I’m going back to him again despite him letting me down so much.  I think the Cards run D might force a few more throws from Wilson and Kearse ends up with good numbers.  I’ll probably regret believing in him, yet again… (80-1)

WR Charles Johnson – Minnesota Vikings – 1% (<1%)

Would love this pick if Jennings and Wright were out but it looks like they are suiting up.  Love what I’ve seen out of him and think he could still make an impact this week in garbage time.  (60-1)

TE Eric Ebron – Detroit Lions – 20% (<4%)

After Fleener’s performance against the Pats last week, it’s easy to be excited about Ebron as he gets more involved in the offense this week.  He’s been hard to trust but I think he snags a TD this week.  (35-1)

Indianapolis Colts Week 8 Fantasy Analysis

Week 8 – @ Pittsburgh – L 34-51

QB: Luck was rushed and made some mistakes but still a huge fantasy game against a terrible passing D.  Took some hits in this one he doesn’t normally take.

RB: Richardson DNP.  Deficit limited carries.  Bradshaw another big game, doing a lot of receiving damage.  Herron did little but wasn’t on the field enough to judge.

WR: Wayne DNP.  Hilton another huge game and couldn’t be covered in this one.  Moncrief a huge game filling in for Wayne.  Really good option if Wayne if out.

TE: Allen only one catch but went for a TD.  Fleener also 1 catch but no TD.  Just weren’t targeted much with WRs and RBs getting so open.

OL: Not enough runs to judge but did well on the few carries.  Pass blocking was very shaky as QB got hit more than normal.  Couldn’t handle blitz in this one.

Def: There are no words for how bad this pass D was.  So many blown coverages.  Run D was below-average.  Gave up monstrous games to basically every skill position.  Just awful.

Indianapolis Colts Week 7 Fantasy Analysis

Week 7 – vs Cincy – W 27-0

QB: Another monster for Luck.  Simply unstoppable right now and even had some bad drops in this game.  Didn’t matter.

RB: Bradshaw a monster game with rushing and receiving combined.  Almost a must-start at this point.  Richardson also looked good and had big game as blocking was amazing.  Did get injured but not serious apparently.  Herron looked excellent in garbage time and worth considering if injury occurs.

WR: Hilton another big game and continues to be a must-start.  Wayne did little and has a few bad drops.  Should be fine but worth noting as he has slowed down in production recently

TE: Allen another big game with a TD and Fleener also solid.  At this point, would rather start Fleener over virtually any TE outside the top 10, especially for bye weeks.

OL: Looked great both run and pass blocking.  Had a little bit of trouble with pass rush at times but not enough to matter.

Def: TOP by O helped dominate.  Only 135 yards of total offense surrendered.  Pass rush was amazing.  Gave up a ton of short completions to TE.  No one else did anything.
