Green Bay Packers

2015

Week 1 – @ Chicago – W 31-23

QB: Rodgers still amazing in every aspect of the game.  Has definitely lost a lot with Nelson gone but still incredible.

RB: Lacy is a stud.  So powerful, quick, and smart.  Will be a top 5 fantasy pick as long as he stays healthy for the next 5-7 years.  He’s just that good.

WR: Cobb and Jones looked very good.  Jones continues to make plays, much like he did early last season with Oakland.  Adams was okay but looked a little shaky.  Will continue to start but might lose targets quickly playing like this.

TE: Rodgers a few catches but nothing to get excited about.  Wouldn’t trust him until he did something for about 3 consecutive weeks.

OL: Solid and looked good run blocking against weak D.  Protected well.  We’ll see how they do against better competition.

Def: Got run on for a ton and still looks pretty soft at times.  They have speed but not enough in the trenches to stop the run.  Not great in coverage.  A lot of open receivers.  Gave up monster to RB and good games to #1 WR and TE.

Week 2 – vs Seattle – W 27-17

QB: Rodgers looked strong as usual.  He’s the best in the league and it’s not close.

RB: Lacy injured.  Starks a nice game against tough D.  Looks like last season.  Good enough to fill in occasionally but nowhere near the talent of Lacy.

WR: Cobb a good game and will continue to be a stud.  Between his ability to get open and Rodgers’ accuracy, he shouldn’t have a bad game all season.  Just not sure who can be trusted as the #2 on this team right now.  Have to wait and see.

TE: Rodgers a TD but not much else.  Could be an okay play occasionally but not expecting consistency yet.

OL: Looked very good against tough D.  Helps having an elite QB but they are playing well.

Def: Had some trouble with scrambling QB but did nice job against the run otherwise.  Overall, looked pretty strong.  Gave up good game to #1 WR.  Held everything else in check.

Week 3 – vs KC – W 38-28

QB: Rodgers a monster game and is just better than everybody right now.  Nothing more to say.

RB: Lacy a decent game between rushing and receiving.  He’s great and would be great for fantasy every week if they needed to run the ball in a competitive game.  Starks more touches but less production.  Tells you everything you need to know about the hierarchy.

WR: Cobb a monster game and Jones a huge game as well.  As I thought last season, Jones is far better than people think.  No reason to believe he won’t be the second most productive WR on this team.

TE: Rodgers did little.  Just can’t be trusted yet.

OL: Average run blocking game against tough D.  Looked great in pass protection.  Gives a ton of confidence all fantasy production will continue.

Def: Wasn’t really stopping the run.  Gave up some prevent yards and points but was playing better than the score indicates.  Pass rush was excellent.  Gave up monster to RB and huge game to #1 WR.  Decent game to TE.

Week 4 – @ SF – W 17-3

QB: Rodgers a below-average game as run game did a lot of work to dominate TOP and slow game down.  Nothing to worry about.

RB: Lacy a nice game and ran hard.  Looks like they are trying to not overuse him and save him as much as possible.  Will cut into his numbers on the season a bit but he’ll still be very good.

WR: Jones another nice game and continues to prove he can get it done.  Looks way better than people give him credit for.  Cobb held in check in this one.  Going to continue getting a ton of attention.

TE: Rodgers a good game grabbing a TD.  Probably deserves consideration as a fantasy starter at this point as long as WRs can’t stay healthy.  He’s good enough to be consistent.

OL: Strong game against struggling D.  Didn’t do a great job against pass rush but was solid enough overall.

Def: Helped by atrocious QB play.  Stopped very limited runs but not scrambling QB.  Gave up pretty much nothing through the air.  Pass rush was excellent.

Week 5 – vs St. Louis – W 24-10

QB: Rodgers not himself in this one.  Pass rush was getting to him a bit.  Wasn’t as accurate as usual.  His bad is still most other QBs good, however.

RB: Lacy held to very little.  Just never got any room to run.  Line did nothing for him.  Not his fault.

WR: Cobb held to little.  Wasn’t looked at too often.  Jones and Montgomery good games although Montgomery’s TD came on blown coverage.  Doesn’t look better than other WRs on team yet.  Jones is legit.

TE: Rodgers a nice PPR game.  Getting more involved and worth a start in the right situations at this point.  Can no longer ignore.  Also noting noting, his good game came when Cobb had bad one.

OL: Not great.  Did nothing for run game.  Couldn’t handle pass rush and was masked by elite QB, to some extent.  Was losing the battle against great D line.

Def: Pass rush dominated.  Was the difference in the game and can’t be understated how good they were.  Got run on at will.  Couldn’t stop runner as they weren’t able to clog anything around the line.  Gave up good game to RB only.

Week 6 – vs SD – W 27-20

QB: Rodgers a little off in this one but still a good game.  Nothing to worry about.

RB: Starks a big game due to a long run.  Outplayed Lacy in this one.  Seems to be grasping the offense better every week.  Lacy did little as he clearly wasn’t 100%.  Starks not a bad option if Lacy misses any time.

WR: Cobb held in check again.  Just isn’t getting open enough.  Jones a nice game nabbing another TD but little else.  Have to keep riding him while hot.

TE: Rodgers did little and is too inconsistent to trust.  Will produce at times but not on an elite level.

OL: Blocked well for run game against weak D.  Was a little shaky against pass rush.  A little too imperfect.

Def: Stopped the run nicely.  Torched by the passing game.  Pass rush was okay but not consistent enough.  Gave up good games to anyone catching passes.

2014

Week 1 – @Seattle L 16-36

QB: Rodgers looked great.  Almost no bad throws and interception came on a ball that should have been caught but went off Nelson’s hands.  Protected well.

RB: Lacy is a stud.  Great hands, vision, and patience.  Runs hard but that will get him hurt with the hits he takes and dishes out.  Starks very good but doesn’t have Lacy’s vision.  Busted a nice highlight-reel play.

WR: No one could get open if Sherman was covering.  Mostly good otherwise.  Nelson and Cobb got all the attention with no 3rd receiver in sight all game.

TE: Quarless got all the throws with Rodgers no where in sight.  Quarless looked okay but did have a bad drop.  QB made him look better than he may have deserved.

OL: Blocking was phenomenal considering opponent.  Except for a couple plays, pass blocking was exceptional.  Run blocking so-so and weren’t really blowing anyone off the line and down field.

Def: Tackling of Lynch was atrocious.  Pass rush on the edge was decent but picked up well.  Wasn’t doing anything up the middle.  Looked more finesse and speed than physical.

Week 2 – vs NYJ – W 31-24

QB: Rodgers got hit a little bit but still had a huge game.  Some nice catches and runs by Nelson helped his numbers a lot.

RB: Lacy did okay but didn’t look right.  Wasn’t showing usual skills and speed.  Hope he is still just recovering a bit.

WR: Nelson had a monster game.  Looked like the best WR in the league for this game with the plays he made.  Cobb great as well getting red zone targets and converting.  Adams passed Boykin and, if this game is any indication, should stay there as the number 3.

TE: Quarless only 1 catch.  Amazingly, the GB TE doesn’t seem to matter for fantasy this season.

OL: Run blocking wasn’t great against elite run D.  Got QB hit more than usual.  Not a great home outing.

Def: Tackling was much improved but still got run on quite a bit.  Would have given up TDs to both WRs if not for boneheaded time out call by NYJ.  Held TE in check.

Week 3 – @ Detroit – L 7-19

QB: Rodgers another bad game on the road.  Was rushed quite a bit and dealt with some bad drops by WRs.  O just looks awful on road so far.

RB: Starks and Lacy about equal this game.  Lacy lost a fumble early and came out for while.  Only one reception by Lacy.  Line did them no favors.

WR: Nelson okay.  Cobb did little and didn’t get many looks.  Boykin had some bad drops so Adams could still take the job although he did little as well.

TE: Quarless had a nice game getting a TD.  Will have to do it consistently to be used.

OL: Couldn’t handle elite D-line.  Couldn’t get run game anything and pass rush was hurting.

Def: Decent all-around considering opponent.  Held all skill players except Bush to average or below-average games.  Held TEs to nearly zero.

Week 4 – @ Chicago – W 38-17

QB: Rodgers a huge game on the road.  They are back to dominating again.  Play everybody in this offense regardless of match up now.

RB: Lacy solid getting a TD but blocking still isn’t great.  Just not getting enough space at times.  When he does, he is a star.  Very quick and excellent vision.  Easily makes guys miss.

WR: Cobb and Nelson both had monster games.  Must-starts regardless of opponent.  Adams had TD called back by penalty.  Looks like the player to get, still, if injury occurs.

TE: Quarless did nothing.  Rodgers had couple catches including one long pass.  Wouldn’t trust either right now.

OL: Not great on runs but good showing on passes.  Looked much better than recent weeks.

Def: Shredded on the ground despite score.  Gave up big games to all main skill players, especially TE.  2 TDs to WRs and could have been more.

Week 5 – vs Minnesota – W 42-10

QB: Rodgers got 3 TDs but didn’t have to do much because of lead and running game.  Also, lost TOP despite score.

RB: Lacy looked excellent and had a monster game against weaker D.  Running style might get him hurt but he dominates when healthy.  Starks decent this game.  Nothing to consider as long as Lacy is healthy, however.

WR: Cobb and Nelson didn’t do a lot because of lead but still got TDs.  Adams also grabbed a TD this game.  Still believe he is and will be the #3 the rest of the way.

TE: Quarless did little.  More a victim of the lead than anything.  Still a good play when match up is right.

OL: Looked great against weaker D this game.  Opened huge holes on the ground and did excellent job pass blocking.  Continuing to improve it appears.

Def: Faced a third string QB throwing mainly to third and fourth string WR and a 2nd string RB.  A lot of sacks but did get run on a bit.  Still looks like a soft D at times against power backs.

Week 6 – @ Miami – W 27-24

QB: Rodgers really good this game despite a very good pass rush that kept him moving.  Some incredible throws made in this game.

RB: Running game held in check a bit.  Lacy did little and didn’t catch a pass.  Starks had 10 touches to Lacy’s 14 but wasn’t much better.  Might be a mess but Lacy is still the better RB.

WR: Nelson and Cobb big games again.  Simply unstoppable at the moment.  Adams had a good game as well and is worth grabbing at this point if available.

TE: Quarless got the GW TD but did little else.  TE just isn’t going to get many looks in this offense.

OL: Not great as they did little for the rushers and got QB rushed and hit a ton.  Continues to have some really unimpressive games.

Def: Above-average against the run but burned by one big QB run.  Gave up big games to Miller (rushing and receiving combined), Wallace, and Landry.  Helped by below-average QB play.

Week 7 – vs Carolina – W 38-17

QB: Rodgers a huge game again.  Looks incredible right now as long as targets stay healthy.

RB: Lacy and Starks both good games getting TD runs.  Lacy got more touches but Starks did get injured.  Lacy is still slightly better because of his power.

WR: Cobb and Nelson huge games.  No one can stop them right now.  Adams another 1 catch, 1 TD game.  Still seems like there is little doubt he is the #3 and will stay there.

TE: Can’t play these guys.  1 catch each for Rodgers and Quarless.  TE just isn’t part of this offense.

OL: Great game against struggling D.  A little shaky on the pass rush but still pretty good most of the way.

Def: Pass rush was decent but didn’t look great because of scrambling QB.  Not great against the run and would have given up good game if not for lead.  Gave up big games to #1 WR and TE.

Week 8 – @ NO – L 23-44

QB: Rodgers a big game and forced to throw because of deficit.  Pass rush got to him quite a bit.

RB: Lacy a big game, especially receiving.  Led team in catches as the deficit didn’t matter for his numbers.  Getting the bulk of the work and playing well against easier match ups.

WR: Nelson held to little as Cobb had huge game along with big game for Adams.  Adams still clearly the best WR handcuff in the league.

TE: Rodgers a decent game.  Still nothing to trust here unless they can do it even 2 games in a row.

OL: Solid but a little shaky with the pass rush.  Expected a little better performance.

Def: Got dominated everywhere.  Gave up huge games to QB, RB, #2 WR, and TE.  Decent games by other WRs.  Stopped nothing all game.

Week 9 – Bye

Week 10 – vs Chicago – W 55-14

QB: Rodgers a monster game and was awesome.  Looked like D just stopped trying after a while.

RB: Lacy okay but blocking was shaky.  Just wasn’t getting much room on a lot of runs.

WR: Nelson another monster game.  D looked like they were barely covering him.  Cobb another big game also.  Made incredible catch for TD.

TE: Quarless and Bostick both got TDs but little else.  TE still not a big part of this O.

OL: Was excellent in pass protection.  Not great run blocking.  Just wasn’t able to open big holes for the starter.

Def: Rushed the QB well and contained run game against struggling O.  Still gave up plenty through the air.  Gave up big game to #1 WR and decent game to #2 WR.  Held everything else in check.

Week 11 – vs Philadelphia – W 53-20

QB: Rodgers just awesome again.  Playing at a freakish level right now.

RB: Lacy a huge game with rushing and receiving combined.  Looked like a top 5 pick in this one.  Made some incredible plays and broke plenty of tackles.

WR: Cobb and Nelson great again.  Adams another TD.  Boykin another drop.  Adams remains the best WR handcuff in the league.

TE: Quarless a couple catches early but still not involved enough in this offense to use for fantasy.

OL: Good game all-around.  D didn’t blitz much and it looked like they might have had trouble with that if they had used it more.

Def: Some bad QB play helped.  Average against the run and didn’t really stop the pass.  Ton of TOs basically given to D.  Gave up big games to WRs and QB.  Decent game by RB and TE.

Week 12 – @ Minnesota – W 24-21

QB: Rodgers a decent game but running game took precedent.  Would have thrown for more if needed.

RB: Lacy was awesome this game and had a monster fantasy game.  Looking like the top 5 pick he was on draft day and likely will be next season.

WR: Nelson a good decent game and good for PPR.  Cobb average.  Team just didn’t need to throw.  Both were still making good plays.

TE: Quarless decent and nearly had TD.  Getting a little better but still hard to trust for fantasy.

OL: Really strong game all-around.  Kept QB from getting touched nearly all game and was making some big holes for RBs.

Def: Bad QB play really helped.  Wasn’t doing a lot otherwise.  Got run on for plenty and still gave up good passing fantasy numbers.  Gave up good games to WRs and decent game to QB and TE.

Week 13 – vs NE – W 26-21

QB: Rodgers awesome again.  No stopping him at this point.

RB: Lacy a good game again and is running really well.  Line doing a good job for him.

WR: Nelson a good game despite only 2 catches.  Cobb good and Adams with a breakout game probably due to match ups.  Adams did have a bad drop for a would-be TD at the end.

TE: Rodgers another TD and good game.  Still hard to trust but worth keeping an eye on, especially for next season.

OL: Great game all-around.  Had some trouble with the blitz but still a strong game.

Def: Wasn’t really stopping the run but attempts were limited due to TOP.  Pass rush pretty good along with coverage.  Gave up good games to WRs and TE.  Held everything else in check.

Week 14 – vs Atlanta – W 43-37

QB: Rodgers another huge game.  Should go in the first round of practically every fantasy draft next season.

RB: Lacy another monster game with receiving added in.  Really has a ton of talent but could probably drop some weight in the off season.  Starks a big game as well and benefits from being in this offense.  Wouldn’t trust him outside of it.

WR: Nelson another monster game.  Makes bad D’s look silly.  Cobb an okay game but didn’t get as many looks as usual.  Wouldn’t be worried about this one.

TE: Quarless a decent game but still not doing enough consistently to use in fantasy.  The WRs and RBs get too many targets.

OL: Good game against weak D.  Run blocking was especially dominant in this one.  Could have run for 300+ yards if they had wanted.

Def: Good early but lit up late.  Got torched through the air and had no answer for Jones.  Gave up monster games to QB and #1 WR.  Good games to RB and #2 WR.  O doesn’t use TE.

Week 15 – @ Buffalo – L 13-21

QB: Rodgers a little off in this one but also hurt by some key drops that would have given him a normal fantasy game.  Not really his fault here.

RB: Lacy just awesome against a tough D on the road.  Got some good blocking and just ran over D.  Really impressive.

WR: Cobb a good game and was his normal self.  Nelson could have had 2 TDs but ended up with below-average numbers.  Just a bad game for him and not going to happen much.

TE: Quarless did little and had terrible drop.  Still hard to trust TEs on this team.

OL: Strong game against tough D.  Run blocking was incredible.  Pass protection solid as usual.

Def: Contained average O.  Wasn’t bending much anywhere.  Looked a little shaky against the run.  Gave up good game to RB and nothing else.

Week 16 – @ TB – W 20-3

QB: Rodgers solid against a weak D.  Nothing new.

RB: Lacy a big game again.  Just a stud and looks like the new “Beastmode” when he gets a little room.

WR: Cobb and Nelson big games again.  Both were studs.  Adams had 2 bad drops early.  Starting to question his hands for now.  Hope for improvement in off-season.

TE: Quarless and Rodgers similar numbers and neither did much.  Neither is setting himself apart from the other.

OL: Good game all-around.  Got QB hit a few times but still played well and pretty much dominated.

Def: Helped by terrible QB play.  Pass rush dominated bad line.  Run D was stout.  Gave up no good games.

Week 17 – vs Detroit – W 30-20

QB: Rodgers a good game despite getting hurt just before halftime.  Played through it and still looked great.

RB: Lacy a good game and is just awesome.  Such a powerful runner with deceiving speed and fun to watch.  Should be in consideration as a top 5 pick again next season.

WR: Nelson a good game making some great plays.  Cobb a huge game making some great plays with his legs.  Both should be studs next season as well as long as they return.

TE: Rodgers a decent PPR game and was definitely getting the most looks in this one at TE.  Still not sure who will be the main guy next season.  Doesn’t seem to be a big gap between him and Quarless, yet.

OL: Played great against a tough match up.  Opened up big holes for runners and protected QB well.

Def: Run D was not great but lead limited carries.  Might have gotten gashed late otherwise.  Pass rush was decent.  Gave up good games to QB, receiving RB, and #1 WR.
