Seattle Seahawks Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 7

Week 7 – @ SF – W 20-3

QB: Wilson another bad game and line continues killing him.  He’ll be way out of the top 10 at the end of season if they don’t make some drastic changes.

RB: Lynch a huge game dominating weak D.  Looked as good as ever but the match up was good.  Have to temper expectations against tougher Ds.

WR: Lockett a big game and Kearse decent but no clearer picture of who is worth playing here.  Will be a gamble every week.

TE: Graham did little and, again, should be considered as a streaming option at this point.  Drop him if you have to.

OL: Did okay for run game but match up was friendly.  Killing passing game.  Can’t trust anyone until they get better.

Def: Stout against struggling O.  Not much to glean from this game.  They shut down everything but it was an easy match up.

Seattle Seahawks Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 5

Week 5 – @ Cincy – L 24-27

QB: Wilson another sub-par game as line is killing him.  This problem doesn’t look like it’s getting solved.  Will be fine at home but a risky start on the road.

RB: Lynch DNP.  Rawls a huge game and looked great.  Speed is almost elite and has great quickness.  Definitely worth owning even when Lynch comes back.

WR: Baldwin and Kearse nice games despite running game doing most of the work.  Same story continues, however: good players, bad fantasy situation.

TE: Graham did little again.  Just can’t be trusted and is getting zero work if they have a lead.  Streaming TEs might be a better option at this point as crazy as that sounds.

OL: Was great for run game and equally terrible for passing game.  Protection is such a weakness against teams with good fronts that the passing game needs to be downgraded for fantasy in those games.

Def: Elite at home, just another D on the road.  Didn’t do a great job against the run.  Blown away by passing game.  Maybe they get better but not benching WRs playing at home against.  Gave up monster to TE, decent games to WRs.

Last Minute Fantasy Football Pickups of Week 2 – Titans D and Douglas

Not a lot I’m overly excited about in week 2 but a few match ups worth considering.  All ownership percentages will be taken from CBS Sports this season as they are typically the highest.  So, if you play on another site, these guys should be more readily available.  Let’s plug and play!

20%-50% Owned

Pickup of the Week – Tennessee Titans Defense – Owned: 35%

The Titans looked good last week against the Bucs and now get the Browns with Johnny Football looking like he gets the start.  From what I’ve seen of Manziel in the NFL to this point, I’d start any fantasy defense against him and take my chances.  He’s shown nothing and the Titans should duplicate their top 10 finish among defenses from last week.  Pick ’em up and roll!  (Projection: 12 fantasy points)

Honorable Mentions

QB Nick Foles – St. Louis Rams – Owned: 45%

Foles gets the terrible pass defense of Washington this week.  Their run defense is good enough to force the throw so Foles should end up with a rather nice fantasy game.  (275-3)

WR Cole Beasley – Dallas Cowboys – Owned: 28%

I think Beasley benefits the most from the Bryant injury and I view him as a Jarvis Landry-type of PPR monster.  I would guess you can pencil him in for 6-8 catches per week until Dez returns.  The match up at Philly makes him particularly enticing this week. (7-75-1)

TE Larry Donnell – New York Giants – Owned: 32%

Fells will not play this week so Donnell should be a solid play at home against an Atlanta team that isn’t great on the road.  Game should be a shootout and Donnell should grab a TD.  (5-70-1)

Owned 20% or Less

Pickup of the Week – WR Harry Douglas – Tennessee Titans – Owned: 10%

Nothing overly exotic with logic behind this pick.  I’m assuming CB Joe Haden will be on Kendall Wright for most of the time, freeing up Douglas to have a nice fantasy game.  Picking the guy Haden wasn’t covering typically worked well last season and I would assume that hasn’t changed.  And with TE Delanie Walker banged up, someone has to get hit in the chest with Mariota’s passes this week.  (6-90-1)

Honorable Mentions

RB Khiry Robinson – New Orleans Saints – Owned: 11%

Second week in a row for him on this list as it looks like Spiller will at least be limited this week.  And if the game against the Bucs gets out of hand as fast as the Titans game with Tampa did, Spiller might not see much action and get more time to heal.  Robinson should benefit and have a nice week, probably more so in PPR. (90 total yards-1)

WR Jermaine Kearse – Seattle Seahawks – Owned: 7%

It pains me to put him on this list considering how many times he burned me last season but he, once again, looked great last week.  Kearse is a tough player to figure out but he’s very good when he’s on.  I think the Hawks will have to throw a little more against the Packers this week and he should be good.  Then again, I’ve been wrong about him quite a bit… (5-75-1)

TE Benjamin Watson – New Orleans Saints – Owned: 8%

Last week against Tampa, Mariota found his veteran TE Walker for a TD.  I’m guessing Brees does the same with Watson this week against the Bucs.  (4-55-1)

Seattle Seahawks Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 1

Week 1 – @ St. Louis – L 31-34

QB: Wilson was on the run and got hit all game.  Looked okay considering pressure and shouldn’t see that kind of defense from just about every other team.

RB: Lynch couldn’t break much against tough D.  Same story as Wilson.  Will be fine against other teams.

WR: Kearse led the way numbers-wise and had a nice game.  Still believe he would be a #2 fantasy receiver in a different situation.  Baldwin average.  Lockett a nice PR TD and a few catches early but nothing to get overly excited about.  Have to see a lot more.

TE: Graham a good game with the TD and looked like he needs some more time to get used to new team.  Might struggle before really taking off.

OL: Couldn’t stop what is probably the best D line in the league.  Hopefully, will be better in the weeks to come against lesser teams.  Have to wait and see.

Def: Was okay but not as stout as usual.  Run D didn’t look elite.  Pass rush wasn’t overly impressive.  Gave up good games to TE and receiving RB.

Seattle Seahawks Week 15 Fantasy Analysis

Week 15 – vs SF – W 17-7

QB: Wilson rushed and hit quite a bit.  Hurt by some key drops and didn’t play great.  Ran well.

RB: Lynch another big game and ran incredibly well.  A good run D just couldn’t tackle him.  Not slowing down at all.  Freakish right now.

WR: Baldwin okay.  Kearse a nice game but could have been really good if he had managed to come down with a couple more tough catches.  Still really like his ability.  Richardson a TD but still not that excited about him yet.

TE: Nothing.  Continue ignoring.

OL: Great run blocking against tough D.  Had a lot of trouble with the pass rush and let quite a few guys straight through the line at the snap.

Def: Pass rush and D was solid against weak passing attack.  Did get run on for a bit early but played well late.  Gave up good game to RB.  Decent games to 2 other RBs, one receiving.  Shutdown the rest.

Seattle Seahawks Week 14 Fantasy Analysis

Week 14 – @ Philadelphia – W 24-14

QB: Wilson another big game, especially on the ground.  Just a great option against a weak passing D since the rushing is becoming so consistent.

RB: Lynch another big game and another game where receiving was great.  Would have been a top 5 pick if anyone knew how involved he would be as a pass catcher.

WR: Baldwin another big game.  Helps to play defenses like this one.  Kearse average but looks really good at times.  Should be putting up better numbers.

TE: Nearly nothing against tough D.  Continue ignoring.

OL: Strong game against weak D.  Was a little shaky very early but was dominating as game went on.

Def: TOP dominated.  Held elite O to very little.  Gave up good games to TE and #1 WR.  Held everything else.

Seattle Seahawks Week 13 Fantasy Analysis

Week 13 – @ SF – W 19-3

QB: Wilson rushed but scrambled out of it well.  Running game allowed him to not have to do too much.

RB: Lynch a big game again.  Just not going to be stopped if blocking continues like this.

WR: Very little.  Kearse and Baldwin just not much.  Have to come to expect it at this point.  No reason to trust.

TE: Willson average but still not usable.  Just not a big enough part of the offense.

OL: Good game all-around.  Looked a little better run blocking in this one.

Def: Great pass rush and helped by bad QB play.  Stout against the run.  Gave up no good games.  Covered WRs well.

Grading My Last Minute Pickups of Week 12

Time to grade my week 12 pickups.  A very boom and bust week for these picks.  I said they had high ceilings and low floors and that came to fruition.  As always, I’ll be using the NFL.com projections and scoring for the grades.

Pickup of the Week – QB Zach Mettenberger – Projected 22nd among QB – Finished 10th – Grade: A+

TD to Hunter was a little fluky but it was still headed to him and, if it were a couple more inches higher, no one would call it a fluke.  He’s playing better every week and is worth consideration when the match up is good.  The Titans certainly don’t seem too interested in running the ball…

RB Dan Herron – Projected 73rd among RB – Finished 26th – Grade: A

Would have finished a little higher if not for the fumble.  Should have finished lower but his other fumble got credited to Luck.  Looked very good and should see plenty of touches for the rest of season.

WR Jermaine Kearse – Projected 80th among WR – Finished 76th – Grade: F

Disappointed yet again.  Still believe if he was on a passing team he would be a good fantasy option.  Seattle is just too erratic to ever confidently trust their WRs.

WR Charles Johnson – Projected 223rd among WR (not kidding, look it up) – Finished 12th – Grade: A++++++++times infinity

Really like what this guy is doing right now and looks like he has played his way past almost every other receiving option on his team.  Not a bad option, especially in PPR.  Might be a sneaky good play the next 2 weeks as well.

TE Eric Ebron – Projected 24th among TE – Finished 30th – Grade: F-

Played terrible and just doesn’t look like a very good receiver right now.  Maybe he’ll break out at some point, but it’s too costly to trust him for now.

Seattle Seahawks Week 12 Fantasy Analysis

Week 12 – vs Arizona – W 19-9

QB: Wilson a good game because of great rushing numbers.  Was rushed and hit a ton because of bad protection.  Hurt his passing numbers.

RB: Lynch held in check on the ground but had good game receiving.  Just too good when he gets a little space.

WR: A mess in this one.  No WR caught more than 2 balls.  Kearse and Baldwin just aren’t involved enough.  Should only be desperation plays.

TE: Helfet got a TD but little else.  Still can’t trust TE on this team.

OL: Awful pass protection.  Got QB hit a ton and lucky to have scrambler so it didn’t seem as bad as it was.  Bad run blocking against tough D as well.

Def: Excellent all-around.  Shutout #1 WR.  Shutdown great RB.  Gave up very little to all players.

Last Minute Fantasy Football Pickup of Week 12 – Zach Mettenberger

All of these picks have high ceilings this week, in my opinion, but also very low floors.  Really tough choice for the pickup of the week.

Pickup of the Week – QB Zach Mettenberger – Tennessee Titans – Owned 9% at most on sites (<1% on some)

Travels to Philly this week, a match up that seems good but you really can’t love a rookie QB heading into that stadium on a short week.  On top of that, I haven’t been overly impressed with his play up to this point.  (I’m really selling this, aren’t I?!)  That being said, I think the Titans built some momentum in their close game with the Steelers last Monday and they get Delanie Walker back this week.  Since the Eagles give up a ton of points, you have to believe Mettenberger can put together a pretty good fantasy game and throw multiple TDs.  You just have to hope the Eagles don’t play too angry and pitch a shutout on D after their embarrassment in Green Bay last week.  (Projection: 250-3)

Honorable Mentions

RB Dan Herron – Indianapolis Colts – 27% (<2%)

I would like Herron more if he had a better pass-catching history.  I’ve been impressed with him on his few touches this season and last and think he could be a good play.  Just wish Indy’s O-line could run block a little better. (50 total yards-1)

WR Jermaine Kearse – Seattle Seahawks – 5% (<3%)

I’m going back to him again despite him letting me down so much.  I think the Cards run D might force a few more throws from Wilson and Kearse ends up with good numbers.  I’ll probably regret believing in him, yet again… (80-1)

WR Charles Johnson – Minnesota Vikings – 1% (<1%)

Would love this pick if Jennings and Wright were out but it looks like they are suiting up.  Love what I’ve seen out of him and think he could still make an impact this week in garbage time.  (60-1)

TE Eric Ebron – Detroit Lions – 20% (<4%)

After Fleener’s performance against the Pats last week, it’s easy to be excited about Ebron as he gets more involved in the offense this week.  He’s been hard to trust but I think he snags a TD this week.  (35-1)
