Tennessee Titans Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 7

Week 7 – vs Atlanta – L 7-10

QB: Mettenberger was terrible and is certainly no threat to Mariota.  Tough match up but he still made some bad decisions and throws.  Nothing to consider unless match up was amazing.

RB: Andrews an okay game and McCluster a good PPR game.  Nothing overly exciting about Andrews.  Not incredibly fast or powerful.  Reminds me of Zac Stacy in a worse situation.

WR: Wright a good game nabbing a TD but not a ton else.  Covered well and just couldn’t make many plays.  Hunter had one of the worst drops of the season.  Not seeing a #2 WR right now.

TE: Walker an average game and still a good PPR option.  Needs others to take some pressure off.  Can’t make too many plays when he’s blanketed so closely.

OL: Decent game overall.  Kept QB up but wasn’t great.  Gave space for runners on limited carries.  Team probably should have run a lot more in this one.

Def: Trampled by sizzling run game.  Played well against the pass.  No pass rush.  Helped by off game by QB and WRs.  Gave up good game to RB and #1 WR.

Tennessee Titans Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 5

Week 5 – vs Buffalo – L 13-14

QB: Mariota a bad game despite decent rushing numbers.  Held in check by great pass rush.  Receivers weren’t doing him any favors.  Will get better but not against a D like this.

RB: Sankey and Andrews split carries and receptions.  Roughly equal numbers with Andrews getting a goal line TD.  Probably will continue like this as they are pretty similar in talent with Sankey only slightly better.

WR: Everything was contained by D.  Wright and Hunter below average games in tough match up.  Not totally their fault as the rookie QB will struggle with elite Ds.

TE: Walker did little and it’s same story as WRs.

OL: Not great in any way here.  Couldn’t handle blitz or open holes for run game.  Just outmatched in this one.

Def: Played pretty well other than being unable to contain scrambling QB.  D looks much better overall than last season and might be a little more scary for fantasy.

Tennessee Titans Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 3

Week 3 – vs Indianapolis – L 33-35

QB: Mariota a pretty good game and is starting to look more comfortable.  Making good throws but suffering from drops on some occasions.  Looks trust-able in fantasy when match up is good.

RB: Andrews a nice game but just looks like a more powerful but less shifty version of Sankey, who was average in this one.  Looks like a committee now and will be impossible to use for the near future in fantasy.

WR: Wright a big game and looked good in what appeared to be a bad match up.  Looks so good at times but just doesn’t seem to have the elite speed that would make him a superstar.  Baffled right now as to who the #2 on this team is.

TE: Walker a nice game and continues to look much better than he gets credit for.  QB is having no trouble finding him when needed.

OL: Held up nicely against questionable D.  Wasn’t great for run game but was giving a little space.  Very good in protection.

Def: Pass rush was pretty strong in this one but faded a little.  Was not good up front against the run.  Need to get better at the point of attack on run plays.  Gave up huge game to RB.  Good games to WRs.

Tennessee Titans Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 2

Week 2 – @ Cleveland – L 14-28

QB: Mariota pretty strong again.  Accuracy was still good but not great in this one.  Threw a few that should have been caught.  Got sacked a ton as he didn’t handle constant blitz well.  Hopefully, will learn quick.

RB: Sankey a little below average in this one.  Wasn’t getting much blocking at all.  McCluster hit a couple long ones but will never be the starter unless desperation strikes.

WR: Receivers all shutdown in this one.  Wright just couldn’t get open.  Probably one of their toughest match ups all season.

TE: Walker DNP.  Fasano had big game as the starter.  Wouldn’t count on it but he did look very good.  Ran well after the catch.  Could steal some targets from WRs if he plays like that every week.

OL: Sadly, looked like last season where they couldn’t block anything.  Was dominated by pass rush.  Just hard to trust anyone on this team when line plays like this.

Def: Played okay but hit with some big passing plays.  Flat out got beat deep a few times.  Have to question the coverage.  A little shaky against the run as well.  Gave up big games to RB and #3 WR.

Tennessee Titans Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 1

Week 1 – @ Tampa Bay – W 42-14

QB: Mariota was very accurate and allowed his receivers to do plenty after the catch.  It won’t be so easy against better teams but a good start.

RB: Sankey looked good and ran well in traffic.  Just kept finding creases and fell forward.  West got a lot of the goal line work but Sankey is still the better play.

WR: Wright a huge game and could be a strong #3 and potential #2 WR.  Still catches everything and runs well after the catch.  Douglas a TD but not a lot more.  Will be a sneaky play some weeks but might be hard to forecast.

TE: Walker a good game but got injured.  Looks just as good as last season and will continue to be pretty consistent if healthy.

OL: Looked vastly improved from last season.  Run blocking was pretty strong and pass protection was also fairly solid.  Did get QB hit a few times but not disastrous like last year.  The opponent should be kept in mind, however.

Def: Front looked good against weak O line.  Rushed the QB all game and made some plays against the run.  Did look more susceptible to the run.  Gave up monster game to TE and nothing else.

Tennessee Titans Week 17 Fantasy Analysis

Week 17 – vs Indy – L 10-27

QB: Whitehurst was terrible.  Hope for this team’s sake that he doesn’t start a game next season.

RB: Greene a good game with most coming on one play.  Sankey looked okay but neither RB gets much blocking.  Line needs big overhaul.

WR: Wright a TD but little else.  WRs suffered because of QB play.

TE: Walker an okay game and good PPR game.  Good player but needs a better QB throwing to him.

OL: Just awful.  Needs wholesale changes in the off-season.

Def: Run D was better than usual but it came against a weak run game.  Torched through the air.  Gave up big games to total QB, #2 WR, and TE.

Tennessee Titans Week 16 Fantasy Analysis

Week 16 – @ Jacksonville – L 13-21

QB: Whitehurst played decent and had okay game.  Was rushed and took some hits but stood strong despite the poor blocking.

RB: Sankey average and not getting enough room to do much.  Still think the talent is there but this line needs to improve for him to be relevant.  Washington a big game receiving but definitely fluky.

WR: Wright a good game but still not showing the consistency of last season.  Washington did little and still can’t be trusted.

TE: Walker an okay game but not enough targets in this one.  Still seems like the best receiver on the team.

OL: Still terrible.  Not a horrendous game but still a glaring weakness on this team.

Def: Couldn’t stop the run again.  O didn’t throw much.  Showed some pass rush when they did.  Gave up good games to RBs and TE.

Tennessee Titans Week 13 Fantasy Analysis

Week 13 – @ Houston – L 21-45

QB: Mettenberger okay but injured.  Locker played very poorly in relief.  Both were rushed a ton and not getting the ball out as fast as they should have.

RB: Sankey looked good again but deficit limited carries.  Still think he has the talent but line and play-calling not helping him at all.

WR: Hunter injured early.  Wright a huge game and looked great making some highlight-reel plays.  Washington a good game but probably got Hunter’s targets.

TE: Walker did nearly nothing.  Tough match up and should be better going forward.

OL: Couldn’t handle pass rush at all.  Run blocking was pretty strong against weaker run D.

Def: Obliterated through the air and run D was below-average.  Couldn’t cover WRs or RB.  Gave up monster games to QB and #1 WR and big games to #2 WR and receiving RB.

Tennessee Titans Week 12 Fantasy Analysis

Week 12 – @ Philadelphia – L 24-43

QB: Mettenberger a big game despite a lot of pressure and some sacks.  Would have been even better if receivers had made a few more plays they should have made.

RB: Sankey held in check but looks great when blocking is there.  Just not a good line in front of him right now.  Might be a big surprise next season if they work on that in off-season.  Greene got the goal line TD.

WR: Hunter a TD off a tipped pass and had a few balls he should have caught.  Good game on stat sheet but should have been better.  Wright should have been better as well.  Washington a better game than Wright again.

TE: Walker a huge game but just missed a TD.  Made some great plays in this one and have to believe QB is going to start trusting him more considering play of him vs WRs.

OL: Still not run blocking well.  Pass protection had plenty of holes in this one as well but not bad for most of the game.

Def: Abused everywhere again.  Stopped nothing and bad tackling on top of it.  Gave up huge game to RBs and good games to QB, WRs, and TEs.

Tennessee Titans Week 11 Fantasy Analysis

Week 11 – vs Pittsburgh – L 24-27

QB: Mettenberger good numbers but not that great a game.  Blown coverage for long TD saved his numbers.  Just not looking impressive yet.

RB: Sankey looked pretty good again but they went away from the run…again.  Has the talent but can’t be trusted due to coaching decisions.

WR: Washington 1 catch for long TD on blown coverage.  Wright a good game and looked good.  Hunter decent but still not doing enough.

TE: Coffman a good game getting a nice TD grab while filling in for Walker.  Looks like a good backup.

OL: Looked decent all-around.  Run blocking was there but team went away from it.  Pretty good pass protection against weaker D.

Def: Got trampled and had bad game against weak O-line.  Contained passing game.  Gave up monster to RB and good games to #1 WR and TE.  Held rest in check.
