Chicago Bears Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 6

Week 6 – @ Detroit – L 34-37

QB: Cutler a nice game and looked good with his receivers healthy again.  Missed some key throws but looks like the O is back on track.  Good option when match up is right, again.

RB: Forte another good game and continues to be an elite player regardless of match up.  The difference in talent between him and most of the rest of the league is so stark right now.

WR: Jeffery a huge game and looked fantastic.  Didn’t look slowed by the injury at all.  Fully healthy and back to being a borderline top 10 option.  Royal a nice PPR game and did what you can expect from him.  Wilson should continue chipping away targets from him, in my opinion.

TE: Bennett an okay game and could have been a ton better.  Failed to make any great plays and have to hope he turns it back on.  Crossing my fingers that this was a fluky game in that sense.

OL: Serviceable game here.  Certainly not dominating and didn’t do much for run game.  Protected decently but has some issues there.  QB doesn’t help a ton.

Def: Just wasn’t good anywhere.  Got run on for a lot by struggling run game.  Torched through the air.  Isn’t making plays.  Not much of a pass rush.  Gave up big games to WRs.  Decent games to TE and RB.

Chicago Bears Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 5

Week 5 – @ KC – W 18-17

QB: Cutler a good game and threw it pretty well.  Still firing rockets so injury doesn’t seem to be affecting him.  Moved well against pressure while still taking a few hits.

RB: Forte a big game and is playing great so far.  Probably has the best combo of patience and vision in the league.  Put up good numbers against good run D and no reason it won’t continue.

WR: Jeffery and Royal DNP.  Wilson a big game and looked great.  Could easily become the #2 ahead of Royal.  A big target and would be a red zone threat.  Bellamy a bunch of short stuff.  He’s fast but not sure the skills are there.

TE: Bennett a bad and unlucky game.  Missed a few that he should of had and QB missed him when he was open.  Could have been so much better.  Not worried about this performance.

OL: Solid game against tough D line.  Did enough for run game to move the ball.  Pass protection was good for gimpy QB.

Def: Helped by inaccurate QB.  Was getting run on pretty easily.  Pass rush was really good.  Mostly contained passing game to shorter plays.  Gave up good PPR game to #1 WR.  Not much else.

Chicago Bears Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 4

Week 4 – vs Oakland – W 22-20

QB: Cutler returned with a nice game against weak D.  Certainly looked slowed but still fine throwing it.  Was pretty on-target and might have been even better with healthy receivers.

RB: Forte a big game with rushing and receiving combined.  Still looks like one of the best runners in the league anytime he gets a sliver of space.

WR: Jeffery DNP.  Royal a good game nabbing a TD but not a ton else.  Wilson a nice game and really looked good outside of a drop.  Could be on the verge and worth keeping a very close eye on.

TE: Bennett a big game, as expected, and played great.  Moves so much better than he looks like he’s capable of.

OL: Solid game but not great.  Had some trouble here and there but mostly held their own.  Would like to see it against better competition.

Def: Probably their best game of the year but still far from elite.  Held average run game in check.  Mostly contained passing game but still got burned with one long TD.  I’d continue starting everyone against.  Gave up good games to WRs.

Chicago Bears Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 2

Week 2 – vs Arizona – L 23-48

QB: Cutler looked normal then got hurt.  Clausen was all kinds of awful.  A lot was the line’s fault but he wasn’t good.

RB: Forte a nice game but needs other players to be better or he’ll get all the attention from defenses.  He’s an elite player but he won’t have any monster games if this type of play around him continues.

WR: Jeffery DNP.  Bellamy caught a long TD on a blown coverage.  Nothing to get excited about.  Royal a nice PPR game but he just isn’t capable of being the main guy.  Not talented enough to get open against better coverage.

TE: Bennett an okay game and was a foot away from a TD and overthrown on another.  Should be strong considering lack of talent at receiver any time Jeffery is not playing.

OL: Atrocious.  It takes a lot of terrible to get your QB tackled before he can hand off to a RB on a non-delay running play.  Serious problems and they could run the fantasy players on this team into the ground this season.

Def: Horrid.  Got the ball run down their throats by backups and torched for 4 TDs by passing game despite less than 200 yards passing.  Gave up big games to everyone.  Start everything against for now.

Chicago Bears Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 1

Week 1 – vs GB – L 23-31

QB: Cutler was Jekyll and Hyde again.  Looks so good at times and then makes the worst decisions.  Still a good start with the right match up.

RB: Forte a monster game and looks as good as ever.  Hasn’t lost anything yet and might finish in the top 5 RBs if his line can give him as much space as they did in this one.

WR: Jeffery solid and didn’t look too affected by injury.  Definitely on the cusp of being an elite WR.  Royal did almost nothing.  Wilson might be the real #2 on this team.  Good enough to do it if he can be consistent.

TE: Bennett a good game and no reason to think it won’t continue.  As solid a fantasy TE as most others in the league not named Gronk.

OL: Looked pretty good against weak run D.  Had occasional trouble with blitz but pass protection was fine.  Probably going to have some ugly games against better lines.

Def: Still terrible against the run.  Wasn’t able to stop WRs.  Tough match up but nothing about this D scares me.  Gave up good games to RB and 3 different WRs.

Chicago Bears Week 17 Fantasy Analysis

Week 17 – @ Minnesota – L 9-13

QB: Cutler was forced into a lot of short stuff and receivers couldn’t make any longer plays for him.  Just looks like a very average QB right now.

RB: Forte a good PPR game but average otherwise.  Definitely could use a small upgrade in blocking but should still be great next season.

WR: Marshall DNP.  Jeffery just missed a long TD.  Did little else.  Wilson was hardly involved and did little.  Just an ugly game due to weather and QB.

TE: Bennett a nice game and good PPR game.  No reason to think he won’t repeat this season’s performance next year.

OL: Decent but not great.  Protected well most of the way but far from elite.  Run blocking was solid.

Def: Decent pass rush against weak line.  Not great stopping the run.  Gave up good games to RB and #3 WR (on one play).  Did good job on #1 WR.

Chicago Bears Week 16 Fantasy Analysis

Week 16 – vs Detroit – W 20-14

QB: Cutler DNP.  Clausen actually looked better than average fantasy numbers indicated.  Hurt by a ton of drops and some really bad ones.  Handled good pressure pretty well.

RB: Forte another big game with receiving included.  Showing absolutely no signs of slowing up and no reason to be scared of taking him early next season, for now.

WR: Jeffery a good game and looked great at times, bad at others.  Just not sure how dominating a player he can be without Marshall around.  Wilson was okay but still not overly excited by him yet.

TE: Bennett did zero.  Just didn’t get targeted much.  Most of the check-downs seemed to go to RB.

OL: Average game.  Couldn’t produce much for ground game and got QB rushed most of the way.  A bit over-matched in this one but didn’t get dominated.

Def: Got run on for a ton and wasn’t covering overly well.  Fuller is going to be a pretty good shutdown corner in the future.  Gave up good games to RBs and #1 WR.  Decent game to #2 WR.  TEs were barely given a look.

Chicago Bears Week 15 Fantasy Analysis

Week 15 – vs NO – L 15-31

QB: Cutler just awful in this one.  Bad decisions on top of holding the ball and getting hit a ton.  His arm is still scary good at times but his head isn’t.

RB: Forte another good game but deficit forced the pass.  Should have just kept handing it to him anyway.

WR: Marshall DNP.  Jeffery a big game and looks fine whether Marshall is there or not.  Seems like he could be okay being the #1.  Wilson a TD but little else.  Still need to see more of him.

TE: Bennett did little but looked good and should have gotten the ball more.  Ran well after the catch as usual.

OL: Run blocking was fine but wasn’t handling the pass rush well.  QB play did make them look even worse.

Def: Run D was average but got torched through the air.  Wasn’t covering anything well and not much of a pass rush.  Gave up good games to every position, especially QB.

Chicago Bears Week 14 Fantasy Analysis

Week 14 – vs Dallas – L 28-41

QB: Cutler another huge game but most of it came late when they were down big.  Did throw the ball pretty well all game but no running game hurt too badly.

RB: Forte another big game but most of the damage came as a receiver.  Never got much going on the ground as the deficit forced the pass.

WR: Marshall decent but hurt pretty early.  Jeffery a big game but a bad drop late.  Not sure how he’ll do if Marshall is out a while and defenses add coverage.

TE: Bennett a big game, especially big in PPR.  Took advantage of good match up and was open all game.

OL: Great pass protection but didn’t open up much on the ground against an average run D.

Def: Trampled, as expected.  Got dominated by elite O-line and couldn’t stop the run.  No pass rush.  Gave up monster game to RB, good games to QB and WRs.  Also gave up TD to TE but little else.

Chicago Bears Week 13 Fantasy Analysis

Week 13 – @ Detroit – L 17-34

QB: Cutler a decent game by negating pass rush with a ton of quick-hit plays.  Had no time when he dropped back.  Hurt the longer plays.

RB: Team chose not to run.  Forte still a decent game with receiving but hurt by the game-plan.

WR: Jeffery a huge game and played extremely well.  Marshall average and was covered well.  Also hurt a bit by game-plan.

TE: Bennett a big game as he was looked for on the short stuff a ton.  Looks great but will still get drowned-out by WRs.

OL: Awful but helped by quick-hit stuff.  Anything that was a run or a longer drop back, they crumbled.

Def: Terrible everywhere.  Couldn’t cover WRs and wasn’t stopping the run.  Gave up huge games to QB, RB, and #1 WR.  Decent games to #2 WR and receiving RB.  Held TEs to little.
