Houston Texans Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 1

Week 1 – vs KC – L 20-27

QB: Hoyer just awful.  Way off target.  Didn’t handle pressure.  Baffling stupid throws.  Was benched late.  Mallett looked decent.  Stay away for now.

RB: Blue, Grimes, and Polk all okay but none great.  Good backups but not very appealing as starters for now.

WR: Hopkins a monster game despite the bad QB play.  Just so good right now.  Washington also strong.  Definitely earned the #2 spot over Shorts.  No controversy there for now.  Could be decent play considering team doesn’t really utilize TE.

TE: Same story as last season in this one.  Just not being used to catch the ball.

OL: Had some trouble with great pass rush.  Bad QB play made them look worse than they deserve but they definitely are not elite.  Run blocking was solid and means good things for Foster’s return.

Def: Elite pass rush with Watt continuing to be unstoppable.  Run D was strong against tough opponent.  Torched by TE.  Gave up decent games to #1 WR and receiving RB.

Kansas City Chiefs Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 1

Week 1 – @ Houston – W 27-20

QB: Smith solid and clearly has better weapons to throw to this season.  Could sneak into the top 10 with a little luck.  Solid play.

RB: Charles held in check on the ground but receiving gave him good game.  Looks strong as usual with decent blocking.  Davis still looks like most talented backup in the league right now.

WR: Maclin a strong debut although numbers weren’t great.  Only a matter of time before he gets in the end zone and he’ll be there plenty.  Wilson looked solid on his few catches.  Worth keeping an eye on.

TE: Kelce a monster game and looked phenomenal.  Belongs in the top 5 at TE and might play his way to #2 this season.

OL: Looked okay against elite line.  Had some trouble, as expected, but should be strong against weaker units.  Pass blocking a little better in this one.

Def: Helped by bad QB play.  Pass rush was great.  Got run on somewhat easily by backups.  Might be a problem.  Gave up a ton to WRs including a monster to #1.

Miami Dolphins Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 1

Week 1 – @ Washington – W 17-10

QB: Tannehill looked solid but still took some hits.  Going to be a little more risky because of that.  Accuracy was good and should be consistent all season.

RB: Miller okay against tough run D.  Wasn’t as involved in the passing game as you want but that should come.  Still looks like a great player.

WR: Landry continues to be PPR stud.  Just gets open and catches everything.  Essentially, he’s Wes Welker with more speed.  Matthews a TD but nothing to get excited about.

TE: Cameron looked great as expected.  A highlight reel catch to go with the good numbers.  Should be a stud as long as he’s on the field.

OL: Had trouble against tough run D, especially early.  Pass protection was mostly good.  Got better as the game went on.

Def: Got surprised with quick hit stuff early but adjusted and looked good later despite huge TOP disparity.  Should be better moving forward.  Gave up good games to RB, TE, and #1 WR.

Washington NFL Team Fantasy Football Analysis – Week 1

Week 1 – vs Miami – L 10-17

QB: Quick hit stuff was working early to mask problems but D figured it out.  Cousins was so-so.  Had some drops but accuracy wasn’t great as well.  Just not that good.

RB: Morris is still a really good runner.  Hits the hole and takes what is there.  Doesn’t get fancy.  Jones got a few touches but didn’t show much.  Have to see more.  Not remotely convinced he’s better than Morris for now.

WR: Jackson injured.  Garcon looked invigorated.  Could get back to being a nice PPR play.

TE: Reed a good game but QB is going to get him killed at this rate.  Can’t be leaping in front of a safety every time he makes a catch.  Talent is great.  Just needs better throws to help stay healthy.

OL: Quick hit stuff helped against tough D line but they still struggled as the game went on.  Did a decent job with run blocking.  Couldn’t handle D line on regular QB drops.

Def: Run D is still stout.  Gave up a little more on the ground late but still quietly strong.  Pass coverage still terrible but masked by TOP in this one.  Will get lit up all season by passing offenses.  Gave up good games to TE and #1 WR.
